“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.”
I’m 42 today. According to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, I’ve reached the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything. So clearly, by the end of the day I’ll have it all figured out. Obviously.
I’m hoping that the anticlimactic way I’m feeling this morning about my birthday means that I’ve moved on from some of the more brooding questions that plague my ‘new normal’ so far. But honestly, they’ll probably return as soon as I get through this launch and get back to writing. Omg, I cannot even tell you how much I can’t wait to get back to writing. This launch has been the coolest thing I’ve been a part of since I had my babies – the response has been unbelievable – but my brain is full, and tired, and longs for hours spent creating worlds and emotions rather than ad copy, you know? I’m excited about sharing my witches with everyone, and because I love them so much, I want to get back to writing them.
Speaking of, IT’S LAUNCH DAY!!! My beautiful friend and neighbor is throwing me a launch party, and she has gone all out. And our other fabulous friend and neighbor (who knows how to decorate, thank goodness, because I’m useless) came in and saved the day yesterday. It turns out everything looks way better when you use matching serving platters…who knew. It’s going to be epic, and I promise to post lots of pictures. Oh and I got a sneak peak of the cake being made by Handmade by Heather…holy crap. Unbelievably cool.
Sales of the book have been fabulous so far – well beyond anything I’ve seen with any of my other books. So my first fear – that no one would buy the book – is vanquished completely. The sucker even made it onto Amazon’s Hot New Releases, which is something I hadn’t even considered on my list of Awesome-Things-That-Might-Happen. If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, you have three more days to get it for ninety-nine cents. And if you’re thinking, ‘Hey, what’s the most helpful thing I could do on my favorite author’s birthday?’ Then you’re in luck, ’cause it’s super easy – post a review. No more than a couple of sentences are needed, and each one makes me jump up and down and do a bastardized version of Riverdance. Get that image out of your head, I dare you.
Okay, the kids are up and they’re still too young to make me breakfast in bed, so I’d better get out there. I love you all, and I’m pretty gosh darn grateful to still be celebrating birthdays with my favorite people.
Sláinte mhaith!
